Alloy
I gave in to trembles —
First my hands, then my whole body —
Flicking a rain of blood upon the stone street.
Sliding between the links of my chain armor,
Finding its home among my ribs and lungs,
A blade screaming pain entombed itself within me,
Its narrow hilt jutting out of my chest.
I sunk upon my knees,
All feeling draining out of the extremities
And into the puddle in which I collapsed,
Dying.
Who I was before this moment was just as irrelevant
As who I may have become.
The dreams I held from my time as a child
Were alloyed into the wicked accursed metal.
My heavy breathing slowed to a silent pant
And ceased altogether.
I thought about my grandmother for a moment
Before I thought no longer.
