Monochromatic

I set alight the monk robes of my heart,
Replacing them with a suit and tie.
I jump through flaming hoops
In an endless desert of broken glass.
The sea welcomes my corpse,
Sailing to the horizon and among the stars.
Where are my eyes?
My mind recoils in terror at the thought.
Fifteen minutes into the future,
I say goodbye to the past.
I walk through endless doors:
Left, right, left, left,
Up stairs, down stairs,
Through a hatch,
Emerging half alone and deathly afraid.
Can we have the night, a night to please?
Give up. You're not worth my time.
My monochromatic reality is worth a paper clip to a beggar.
